Systemiq careers

We are always looking for people who want to solve the biggest challenges affecting society and our planet. If this is you, we would love to hear from you.

We want our people to develop into leaders who will go on to deliver fundamental system change. We don’t have all the resources, benefits and fixed career paths of larger institutions. However, as a purpose-driven company, we help our staff to develop their personal strengths and achieve their ambitions through the opportunities we offer.

Systemiq Days = Time together

Twice a year, our teams around the world come together to talk, plan, feel inspired and have fun.

Systemiq careers – Our culture

Our culture is at the core of how we work, and staff play a key role in developing this and building the organisation. We focus on outcomes, not office hours. Our decisions and actions are guided by five core principles: change, challenge, creativity, collaboration and care.

Slide 1
Pravin - London Team
"If you're drawn to work in sustainability...

it would be hard to find an organisation where you can learn so much about the energy system transition as a whole, through projects with a great combination of thoroughness, succinctness and impact."

Slide 1
Anne-Wietje - Amsterdam team
That's the main thing: that people can be themselves.

I’ve spoken to a lot of people who were interested in applying, and I always tell them that everyone I've met at Systemiq is just a genuinely nice person - super friendly, super open, not judgmental.

Slide 3
Vic - São Paulo team
They said "you'll be working on policy" - and my eyes lit up

I’m an environmental sciences student: I want to research things that are going to help people to live better lives while protecting nature, grounded in social and environmental responsibility.

Systemiq is very aligned with things I love and care about. I’m working on topics I’m passionate about, that I believe in, and on a big scale.

Slide 2
Batari - Jakarta team
"It does have a very different vibe: mission-driven and focused"

In my previous consulting life, it was ‘whatever the client wants, the client gets’. But here we are actually working together, thinking together, as a partner. We'll learn from them and they’ll learn from us.

Slide 3
Guido - Paris team
System change can be tough...

But I always try to work back from the goal: what it would take to achieve it, what might be other ways to get there.
I find that fun: you literally come up with new ideas every day, and when you see a piece that can fit in that puzzle, it’s extremely rewarding.

Slide 3
Anna - São Paulo team
It is a fun ride - just remember to buckle your seat belt!

Because it will be adventurous. It is a lot of work, a lot of dedication – but a lot of impact too. I would say: ‘Try to trust your leadership’. You have brilliant minds around this project; it's amazing to have the opportunity to work with and learn from them.

Systemiq careers – Ready to apply?

Fascinated by AI?

Us too!  But we have a few simple rules for AI in the interview process.

  • You deserve to have your application reviewed by a human being. We don’t reject people on an AI skim of their skills and experience.
  • You are welcome to use AI for interview preparation: tell us how you used it, and how you feel it helped.
  • Please don’t use AI for person-to-person interviews: we’re interested in the real you!

Interested in Operations roles?

Our People, Legal, Finance, IT and Communications teams keep Systemiq running.

  • Your interview process for these Systemiq careers will follow a similar path, but with a different ‘challenge’ to test your abilities and approach.
  • We’re equally interested in understanding your skills, experience, and your motivation to support vital change for society and the environment.

Change for the better

Diversity and inclusion are vital to the work we do and the impact we aim to have.

Good problem solvers need a range of views, and need to find fair solutions. We published our first Diversity and Inclusion pledges in 2022. Since then, we have reported back to the company on remuneration and gender, on leadership and staff diversity targets for every office.

Not worked as a consultant before?

We would still love to hear from you.

Our colleagues come from a wide range of backgrounds and share a passion for making a positive difference through their work.

If your professional background doesn’t include consultancy, don’t worry: we’ll share advice on how to approach our case-study task and behavioural questions before your first interview.

Future Interest in Systemiq careers

If a possible match comes up, we’ll be in touch.

We’ll include likely future vacancies in the search results. These listings explain the role’s key responsibilities, and how and where it fits into our structure and work; we’ll also list the likely key requirements. It’s a great way to express your interest in Systemiq careers and a specific future role, and for us to stay connected with you.

The Interview Process

STEP 1 - Recruiter Interview +

Talk with a Systemiq recruiter about your motivation, situation and career expectations. We want to hear which Systemiq projects you've read about: which ones really resonated with you, and why?

STEP 2 - A Systems Thinking Challenge +

Show us how you would problem-solve and advise on a real-world issue

STEP 3 - Partner Interview +

Talk to an expert about your system-change thinking on societal and industrial topics - a test of knowledge and mindset!

STEP 4 - Final Partner Interview +

An hour's conversation with a Partner or Managing Partner will explore your thinking and motivations - and give you an opportunity to ask any final questions.
